I am always reading about WiFi. Sometimes it seems that is all I do.
Below is an interesting article about how simple changes in a WiFi hotspot can have a negative effect. The article is talking about an office WiFi network and how Christmas holiday decorations can have a significant impact on their wireless LAN.
If simple, inocuous decorations have that kind of effect in a controllable environment like an office, imagine the effect of the constantly changing environment at an RV park offering WiFi.

Great site with lots and lots of good information.
I have a question. Is it safe to use WIFI for your banking and buying with a credit card?

Chris - Yes, it is safe to use WiFi for your banking and buying with a credit card. As long as you know you are at your bank’s or store’s legitimate website and it is secure. Sometimes, if you follow a link that pretends to be your bank, you’re actually going to a phishing site. This can happen regardless of how you connect - WiFi is no different than any other method. Look for the https - the ’s’ stands for secure - and the little lock in the lower right. Secure means that it is encrypted, scrambled if you will. And that encryption is handled by your bank, not the WiFi hotspot. Anything you type is encrypted from your typing it, thru the local WiFi network, thru the Internet, to your bank, and back.

Wow, that is great to know.
How about when I’m at home and I use a router to hook up to my home cable and use my laptop there, is that the same thing?

I’ve been reading this website and I have learned so much about WiFi and other stuff, like settings on my PC, thanks for the information.
Now, if I could only figure out which laptop to buy I’d have it made.
And router too.
